The Highway Department maintains all of the Town's roads, sidewalks, and curbs. This includes periodic patching, road resurfacing, cleaning road shoulders, emergency sidewalk repair, and snow and leaf removal within the Unincorporated Area of the Town.

The Town annually contracts sidewalk reconstruction work. It is the property owner’s responsibility to keep the sidewalk abutting their property clear of snow and ice. Sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after the snow ceases to fall. In addition, property owners are responsible to prune and trim all landscaping items such as hedges, small trees, flowerbeds, and grassy areas.
The Highway Department's staff also repairs hazardous sidewalk conditions on a periodic or as-needed basis.
The Town contracts annually to resurface roads. This essential task is funded by the Town, along with the assistance of the NYS Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS).
