Assistant Court Clerk – Part-time
The Town of Mamaroneck Court is seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Assistant Court Clerk. The position is part-time (approximately 17 hours per week), which would include occasional evening court sessions. The Assistant Court Clerk works under the direction of the Court Clerk and will assist in all aspects of Town Court administration.
General Duties: Performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks for the Town Court including, but not limited to:
Ø Prepares court dockets and files
Ø Collects and processes fines; issues receipts and maintains records of payments
Ø Uses computer applications and other automated systems, such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail and data base software in connection with court matters
Ø Prepares correspondence and performs clerical duties, such as answering phones, filing, etc.
Ø Prepares and maintains court calendars
Ø Handles court correspondence
Ø Explains procedures or forms to parties involved in cases
Ø Sorts and processes incoming and outgoing mail
Ø Assists in the preparation of court reports
Ø Responds to inquires from the public (by mail and in person), as well as legal and law enforcement personnel
Minimum Qualifications: Prior or current experience in a Justice Court preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, comprehend legal documents, operate standard office equipment and computers (including specialized software), maintain accurate records, attention to detail, ability to work independently and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
