The Meals on Wheels program delivers nutritious meals to residents who cannot prepare meals themselves.
Eligibility: |
Any elderly resident (age 60 or older) who is homebound, ill, disabled and/or convalescing and unable to prepare meals is eligible. |
|
To Apply: |
Applications can be taken over the phone by calling Community Services at (914) 381-7840. |
|
Once Approved: |
Once we have all of the necessary information, we will contact you with the details of your meal delivery. Most residents receive their first meal delivery in as little as 24-48 hours. |
Menus are created by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.
Meals are prepared by Lunch with Lou, a local caterer. Hot meals generally include: meat or fish, vegetables, salads, milk, juice, fruit or dessert, bread and margarine. Cold meals include a different sandwich daily, with milk, juice, and fruit or dessert. The menu rotates about every six weeks.
Meals are delivered up to six times a week, depending on your doctor's orders. Deliveries are made by volunteers Monday - Saturday, from 11:00 am and 12:30 pm.
Please note:
Volunteers are always needed for our Meals-on-Wheels program to pick up and deliver a mid-day meal to local residents one day every two weeks, or as on-call substitutes. Volunteers must have a car, be able to drive, and be available from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the day they serve. For more information or to volunteer, call Community Services at (914) 381-7840.
