The Town of Mamaroneck Housing Choice Voucher Program provides federally-funded rental assistance and co-op maintenance charge assistance to income-eligible families. Preference is given to local residents, senior citizens (age 62 and older), people with disabilities, veterans, victims of domestic violence, and working families whose income is at or below 30% of the median income for Westchester County based on family size.

The office of Community Services manages the Housing Choice Voucher Program for residents of the Town of Mamaroneck, the Village of Larchmont and the Village of Mamaroneck, including Rye-Neck. This program relies on available rental housing units in our community. Local landlords are encouraged to contact Community Services for information about participating in the program, and to submit available rental listings.

Obtaining an Application

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. All applicants are screened for program eligibility (including income eligibility), criminal history, and credit worthiness. Once eligibility is confirmed, applicants are placed on the waiting list.

Applications can be:

  • Picked up at the office of Community Services; or
  • Requested by mail, by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) to:

Aditional Documents

The Town of Mamaroneck updates the Public Housing Agency Plan annually and drafts a comprehensive plan every 5 years. The plan is prepared in advance, and is available for review for at least 45 days prior to a public hearing on the plan. Comments are solicited on the plan during the review period and the plan is ultimately approved by the Town Board acting as the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Mamaroneck PHA no later than 75 days prior to the start of the PHA's fiscal year which begins on January 1. The PHA plan was approved by the Town Board at the October 3, 2012 meeting.

The Administrative Plan that accompanies the PHA Plan is the operations manual for the PHA and contains policies and procedures for administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Administrative Plan is updated as needed based on policy changes or HUD requirements.
