Electrical work should be inspected by private electrical inspections services. They issue compliance certificates for work performed by licensed electricians. Once the work has been inspected, a copy of the Electrical Certificate should be furnished to the Building Department.
A building permit application is required to install generators.
Please note, an "Electrical Certificate" is not required for:
Replacement of devices including fuses, lamps, wall outlets and similar devices that do not disturb the fixed wiring system.
Electrical work that involve currents under 25 volts (for example, doorbell circuits).
