Electrical Certificates

Electrical work should be inspected by private electrical inspections services. They issue compliance certificates for work performed by licensed electricians. Once the work has been inspected, a copy of the Electrical Certificate should be furnished to the Building Department.

A building permit application is required to install generators.

Please note, an Electrical Certificate is not required for:
  • Replacement of devices including fuses, lamps, wall outlets and similar devices that do not disturb the fixed wiring system.
  • Electrical work that involve currents under 25 volts (for example, doorbell circuits).
